BEST is used to assign spectra to a calibration model.
Ang II dose was predicted from the near-IR spectra of aortas using PC regression (n=36). The first two PCs provided the optimum prediction model.
SEE = 26 ng/kg/min, r2=0.99
Passed f test at p=0.01 significance level.
Collagen-to-elastin ratios in the samples were estimated using SEM to determine whether a correlation existed between the near-IR spectra and this histological marker (n=36). The range of collagen-to-elastin ratios obtained was 1.4 to 4.5. A trend apparent in the data is a general increase in collagen-to-elastin ratio with increasing Ang II infusion.
