What is different chemically between the aortas of ApoE -/- mice that develop large aneurysms and those that do not?
If a difference exists, it might be possible to detect it early and predict which mice will develop severe disease. The difference must be in the vessel wall itself or be carried in by outside cells.
Ultimately, it might be possible to make these measurements with minimally invasive (catheter) or noninvasive techniques.
